FAQ

Questions.

Where is my data stored?
On your computer, in a single file at %APPDATA%\Groundbase\crm.db. You can back it up, copy it to a USB drive, or move it to another machine. Nothing leaves your computer unless you connect Twilio (for SMS) or your email account (for inbox).
What happens to my data if Groundbase goes away?
Nothing. The app runs locally. Your data is in a standard SQLite file you can open with any SQLite tool. Groundbase doesn't depend on our servers to keep working.
Why does Windows show a security warning when I install?
Groundbase is a new indie app and hasn’t built up enough download history with Microsoft to bypass their SmartScreen warning yet. Click “More info” → “Run anyway” to install. The app is safe — we’ll add code signing once enough customers support it.
Can I use Groundbase on multiple computers?
Yes, on up to 3 devices you personally own. There's no sync between them yet — each computer has its own database. To move data between machines, use Backup & Export, then Restore on the other computer. Sync is on the roadmap.
Do I need Twilio and a separate email account?
Only if you want SMS or inbox features inside Groundbase. The CRM itself works perfectly without either. Twilio is what sends the actual texts (you pay Twilio per message, not us). Email integration connects to your existing Gmail/Outlook/IMAP — Groundbase doesn't host email.
Is there a Mac version?
Not yet. Groundbase is Windows-only for v1. A Mac version may come later — your $39 license will work on it.
What's the upgrade path?
The free tier and Pro are the same app. When you're ready to upgrade, enter your license key in Settings → License. Everything unlocks immediately. No reinstall, no migration.
